RESIDENTS who were hit by flooding problems in York in September will have the chance to quiz City of York Council and the Environment Agency tomorrow.
York Central MP Hugh Bayley is hosting a public meeting at the Novotel in Fishergate with council leader James Alexander and representatives from the agency and Yorkshire Water. Everybody who was affected by the recent floods or has other flooding concerns is welcome to attend, with the meeting starting at 10am.
Mr Bayley recently called on Environment Minister Richard Benyon to give the agency responsibility for providing advice to residents and businesses when flooding strikes and to put pressure on insurance firms to pay compensation quickly.
Coun Alexander said: “This is an important opportunity for residents to gain direct advice and support as we work together to ensure the city’s flood defences are continually improved and emergency issues are dealt with efficiently when they arise.”
