STRICTLY Come Dancing contestant Dani Harmer’s success in the BBC dance show means she will miss two of her scheduled performances in a York pantomime next month.
The Tracy Beaker star will be taking the title role in Cinderella at the York Barbican, which will be performed from December 21 to 30, but one day of its run – Saturday, December 22 – clashes with the Strictly final.
Dani is still in the running to reach the final, for which contestants are invited back if they have been eliminated previously. A spokeswoman for SMG Europe, which operates the Barbican, said: “Dani is committed to featuring in the full run of Cinderella, where she will be playing the leading lady.
“We are delighted with how well Dani is doing in Strictly so far and we hope she goes all the way and wins. However, as a result of her Strictly commitments, she will be unable to star as Cinderella in the matinee and evening performances of our pantomime on December 22, the same day as the Strictly final.
“Understudies are already in place, so one of these will be taking over her role.”
SMG said anybody wanting to find out more information about Cinderella at York Barbican should phone the venue’s box office on 0844 854 2757.
