Body found in search for missing man Graham Roskell
9:20am Thursday 15th November 2012 in News
A BODY has been found in the search for missing North Yorkshire man Graham Roskell.
The body was found by a member of the public in a wooded area off York Road in Wetherby, late yesterday morning.
Grandfather Mr Roskell, 65, has been missing since leaving Harrogate District Hospital, where he was receiving treatment, at about 8am on Saturday, November 3.
An urgent search was launched as Mr Roskell had been suffering from a brain infection causing him to be very confused and scared, his family had said.
His family were yesterday informed about the discovery and were being supported by specially trained officers from North Yorkshire Police.
Formal identification of the body is yet to take place, police said.
Superintendent Aubrey Smith said: “My thoughts and indeed those of everyone at North Yorkshire Police are with Mr Roskell’s family and friends at this extremely difficult time.
“The past 11 days have been very traumatic for them. I would like to thank everyone, particularly all the members of the public and volunteers who have supported the search, for their hard work and dedication during the efforts to locate Mr Roskell.”
Mr Roskell’s children had said the family had been “torn apart” by Mr Roskell’s disappearance and said every member of the family had helped with the search.
Many volunteers also helped with the search, and specially trained officers searched Crimple Wood, near the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate.
Officers also conducted house-to-house inquiries and specialist teams searched the River Nidd.
