Woman, 55, injured in taxi collision in Rougier Street, York

A WOMAN aged 55 was taken to York Hospital with a head injury after a traffic accident brought chaos to York city centre last night.

The woman was on foot when she and a vehicle, believed to be a taxi, collided in Rougier Street, near the Arriva offices, shortly before 7pm.

Police immediately closed the road as they started an investigation into the crash and traffic backed up into the city centre.

The road was reopened within half an hour.

The woman’s injuries were not believed to be serious.
