A 55-year-old woman was taken to York Hospital with a head injury after a traffic accident brought chaos to York city centre this evening.
The woman was on foot when she and a vehicle, believed to be a taxi, collided on Rougier Street near the Arriva offices shortly before 7pm.
Police immediately closed the road as they started an investigation into the crash and traffic backed up into the city centre and the city centre approaches. The road was reopened within half an hour. The woman's injuries are not said to be serious.
