Man, 22, accused of two robberies

A 22-YEAR-OLD man has been remanded in custody, accused of carrying out two robberies on York’s riverbanks.

Gavin Freed’s application for bail was refused by York Magistrates, who committed him for trial at York Crown Court.

Freed, of no fixed address but formerly of Main Avenue, Tang Hall, is accused of robbing Chris Kenwood and Melik Cinar on July 31 on the bank of the Ouse near Scarborough Bridge.

He is also accused of robbing John Adamson on the riverbank near Almery Terrace on August 2, and faces a further charge of failing to surrender to bail.
