2:23pm Thursday 1st November 2012 in News
AN elderly driver was airlifted to hospital with chest injuries after his car collided with another car and crashed into a deep ditch by the side of the road.
The accident at the Biggin crossroads on the B1222 Sherburn-in-Elmet to Cawood road left the man trapped in his upside down Skoda car. Fire crews from Tadcaster, Selby and Garforth in West Yorkshire cut him free of the wreckage of his vehicle and he was taken to Leeds General Infirmary.
The rescue took nearly half an hour and the road was closed for nearly two hours this afternoon. The driver of the other vehicle involved, a Ford Focus, is not believed to be injured.
