Witnesses sought after two-car crash in Fulford Road, York
8:27am Thursday 1st November 2012 in News
WITNESSES are being sought after a hit-and-run in York.
The incident happened in Fulford Road on Friday, October 16, at about 6.30pm, when a silver Ford Ka was travelling from the city centre towards Fulford and attempted to make a right turn into St Oswald’s Road.
There was a break in the oncoming traffic to allow the Ka to turn.
As the driver made the right turn, another car, which was silver or white and thought to be either a BMW or Mercedes, came from the opposite direction, through the bus lane and collided with the Ford Ka. The driver of that car did not stop at the scene of the collision.
Police are appealing for the driver of this vehicle to contact them. Officers are also appealing for anyone else who witnessed the collision to phone them on 101.
The driver of the Ford Ka, a 22-year-old York woman, was very shaken up and suffered minor injuries as a result of the collision.

Was it really the Ka that attempted to turn right...or was it the unfortunate driver?

I find it incredible in this age of connectivity that no-one got a snapshot of the alleged offender on a mobile phone, given the large number of drivers I see using them, nor managed to note in stationary traffic the registration no., no doubt personalised and misspaced to make it easier to remember! What ever happened to awareness of your surroundings? Were all these people driving without due care and attention?
