A PAIR of men wearing Hallowe’en masks are being sought by police following a spate of offences in York tonight.
The first incident occurred just before 7pm, when the men smashed bottles and threatened an employee in Kopnik Foods, Walmgate.
A police spokesman said one of the men attempted to assault the worker with a broken bottle in the shop, and demanded money from the till before both men left.
The second offence took place at Spar stores in Lowther Street, at just after 7pm, where the two suspects were captured on CCTV leaving the scene on bicycles after they demanded money from the till.
The third incident happened just before 7.40pm, when the suspects stole the cash register from the Londis store in Hawthorne Terrace.
Chief Inspector Mark Grange said there was no indication how much money had been taken, but said plain clothes officers were patrolling the city on the lookout for the suspects.
The masks were described as brown, with black detailing around the eyes, eyebrows and nose. One of the men was about six foot three inches tall, wearing a black tracksuit with a hood up, and the other was described as wearing a black tracksuit top, a grey t-shirt, blue jeans and brown trainers.
Anyone who saw the men has been urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101.
