Appeal for potential adoptive parents
9:24am Wednesday 31st October 2012 in News
POTENTIAL adoptive parents are being invited to contact North Yorkshire County Council as part of National Adoption week.
Every year North Yorkshire County Council is responsible for looking after more than 460 children and young people, of whom more than 40 are waiting for adoptive families.
They include babies, toddlers, young school-age children and siblings. All have profound additional needs, and complex family histories, a council spokesman said.
Nic Haughton, adoption service manager, children’s social care, said: “Our greatest need is always for adopters of children aged between three and eight years old, and we also want adopters of disabled children and for brothers and sisters who need to be adopted together, rather than spending their childhood in local authority care.
“The one thing they all have in common is that they need the love and security that family life provides – and they can all give so much back in return.”
