Savings reduce City of York Council’s overspend
9:48am Tuesday 30th October 2012 in News
City of York Council has reduced its overspend from £6 million to £2.5 million.
Earlier this year, The Press reported how the council faced missing its budget by £6 million this year according to a financial report, but it announced that since the last quarterly finance update in July, “extensive mitigation measures and efficiency savings” mean that the overspend stands at £2.5 million.
Cabinet will be asked to review the report on City of York Council’s performance over the last quarter, on November 6.
Meanwhile, the council has also released findings of a survey of York residents which indicate that over 90 per cent of residents said they were satisfied or very satisfied with living in York, adding weight to the city’s reputation as a great place to live, work, visit and invest.
