Half-term market to feature artisan producers

A GROUP of artisan producers will join forces with the traders of Newgate market to offer a new shopping experience this half-term.

City of York Council has arranged for the group, which includes arts, crafts and fashion producers called Artsmix, to set out their stalls alongside traders from Newgate Market on Parliament Street for a bumper edition of the Monday market.

The market, which will open at 10am and finish at 8pm, will also include jewellery makers, soap producers and frame makers.

Coun Sonja Crisp, the council’s cabinet member for leisure, culture and tourism, said: “This is a brilliant opportunity for people to come into York or stay later and experience some of the fantastic shopping and leisure that the city has to offer.”
