PERFORMERS at a York dance school have passed a vocational exam with the Royal Academy of Dance.

Six students of the Patricia Veale School of Dance in Acomb passed the intermediate foundation examination and four passed the intermediate examination.

Kelly Clarey, principal of the school, said: “Vocational examinations are a very high level with the academy so the pupils and I are extremely pleased that all of them passed with high marks.”

Among the success stories were Alice Boddy, Gabrielle Richardson, Saffron Hartley, Grace Yeomans, Isobel Nutbrown and Faye Addy who all passed the Intermediate Foundation Examination.

Susannah Dickens, Hope Pycroft, Francesca Davies and Jayne Chutter passed the Intermediate exam.

Two of the dancers – Isobel Nutbrown and Ellie Hawcutt – have also earned places with the Louise Browne Yorkshire Scholarship Centre. The dance school is now working towards a production of the Wizard Of Oz at the Joseph Rowntree Theatre, which will be staged in February.
