Wheelchair amnesty
7:49am Wednesday 24th October 2012 in News
HOSPITAL bosses are asking the people of York to search their sheds and garages for unused wheelchairs which could be returned to the trust.
The plea comes ahead of a wheelchair amnesty on November 5, launched by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in conjunction with York Wheelchair Centre.
Catherine Venable, principal therapist from York Hospital, said: “We would like people to return any wheelchairs that are no longer needed – no questions will be asked, we’d just like them back so that other patients can benefit.”
Wheelchairs can be returned to York Wheelchair Centre, Blue Beck House, Blue Beck Drive, Shipton Road, between 8am and 3.30pm. Phone 01904 637714 for more details.
They can also be returned to the physiotherapy and occupational therapy department at York Hospital between 8am and 4.30pm. For more information, phone 01904 725390.
