STAFF at a York tourist attraction are getting ready for a special half-term visitor.

Paddington Bear, who has just been voted Britain’s best animated character of all time, will be making appearances between October 27 and November 4 at the National Railway Museum.

Children will also be able to take a look at the museum’s collection of locomotives, wagons and carriages, as well as taking part in a teddy bear treasure hunt, a welly-throwing contest, craft events and storytelling sessions, follow an interactive family trail and enjoying science shows.

Home-made marmalade sandwiches – Paddington’s favourite snack – will also be on offer.

Zoe Roberts, the museum’s public programme director, said: “We have spent the last few days getting ready for his arrival, and the stage is now set.”

Admission is free and more information is available at nrm.org.uk
