A YORK primary school unveiled a plaque commemorating the restoration of an iconic clock as part of its centenary celebrations.

New Earswick Primary School received a £2,000 grant from the local parish council earlier this year to preserve the school timepiece for future generations.

Carole Dickson, head teacher at New Earswick, unveiled the plaque alongside parish councillors Don Crawford and Audrey Steel.

The school is celebrating its anniversary with a series of events and wants people willing to share their memories for an oral history project to get in touch.

It would also like to borrow memorabilia such as photographs, old school books and reports from past pupils for display.
