NORTH YORKSHIRE council has drawn up plans to make a road in Selby safer, and wants to hear from people's views.

The mini-roundabout at the junction of Flaxley Road and Scott Road has seen four accidents which left people injured in the last three years, as well as near misses and other crashes.

After a traffic survey, the council wants to replace the mini-roundabout with a T-junction that will be give priority to the left turn into Flaxley Road from Scott Road and the right turn from Flaxley Road into Scott Road. Traffic turning right into Flaxley Road from Scott Road would do so via a protected right turn pocket. Things will be improved for pedestrians by installing dropped kerbs and double yellow lines.

Cllr Stephanie Duckett, a member for Selby Barlby, said: “Any improvements that can prevent injuries have got to be good, and I’d urge local people to have their say on the proposals.”
