EARTH, Wind & Fire will play Leeds First Direct Arena on July 4 as one of only four shows on their British summer tour, when the line-up will feature founding members Philip Bailey, Verdine White and Ralph Johnson.

Formed in 1969 in Chicago, the band has sold more than 100 million albums worldwide, for many years under the leadership of Maurice White, who died in February 2016 at the age of 74. White was not only a singer, songwriter and musician, he was also a record producer and arranger.

Earth, Wind & Fire enjoyed hits with such singles as Saturday Nite, Fantasy, September, Boogie Wonderland, After The Love Has Gone, Star, Let's Groove and I've Had Enough between 1976 and 1982. The band was inducted into the Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame in 2000 and was bestowed with the National Academy of Recording Arts & Science's highest honour, the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, in 2016.

Earth, Wind & Fire's tour also takes in Bournemouth on July 3 and Manchester on July 5, preceded by a headline appearance at the Love Supreme Jazz Festival, at Glynde Place, Sussex, on July 1.
