POLICE were called to York railway station this afternoon following reports that a woman was on the tracks.
British Transport Police said its officers attended shortly before 2pm, along with colleagues from North Yorkshire Police.
A spokeswoman said a woman was helped from the tracks and detained under the Mental Health Act.
The National Railway Museum said the incident involved a member of the public on the tracks near to the Yorkshire Rail Academy.
A spokeswoman confirmed that no one was harmed and counselling and support were being offered to staff members involved in the incident.
