A COLOURFUL 5k event made a splash in York this weekend.

Runners at the Colour Me Happy Fun Run at Rawcliffe Country Park were showered with paint and clouds of colour as they made their way around the route in aid of York’s St Leonard’s Hospice and Martin House Children’s Hospice in Boston Spa.

The event began with a 'splash party', which saw participants dressed in white T-shirts sprayed with a rainbow of colours from a colour cannon and then showered with clouds of colour as they passed colour stations along the route.

The main sponsor for the whole event was sweets company Haribo, while healthcare provider Barchester, holiday homes company Park Leisure, and City of York Trading sponsored the ‘colour stations’.

All proceeds from the event are being shared equally between St Leonard’s Hospice and Martin House’s ‘Good Night’s Sleep’ Appeal, which is supported by BBC Radio York.
