CASTLE Howard is to host a firework spectacular to mark Guy Fawkes Day and Hallowe'en.

The 'Kaboom' explosive night is being planned on Saturday November 1 by Rockin’ Horse Promotions, which ran displays at Rawcliffe Country Park in York for the past two years.

As reported recently, the business is currently in dispute with City of York Council over a clear-up bill from the 2012 event.

A spokeswoman said the Castle Howard spectacular would be set against the backdrop of the illuminated stately home near Malton and synchronized to a special ‘Ghostbusters’ movie themed music track.

"The show will feature a programme of family entertainment including freaky fire-glow jugglers, a spooky Sparkler Park for children, spine tingling story-telling for junior ghostbusters, pumpkin carving and many more ghoulish goings-on including headless horsemen and the ghost of Guy Fawkes. "There will also be a ‘Fright Night’ funfair and the chance to tuck into traditional Halloween and Bonfire Night goodies."

Managing director Mark Brayshaw said the event would bring together the best of Hallowe'en and Bonfire Night into one 'fantastic, super-spooky, and explosive big bang of an event.'

He added:" As the birthplace of Guy Fawkes, it is fitting that York marks its connections to the famous conspirator, and the awe-inspiring setting of Castle Howard is sure to be a success."

Tickets costing £12.50 for adults and £10.00 for children, under-16s, students and senior citizens can be purchased in advance via www.kaboomyork.com or www.castlehoward.co.uk and at the Visit York Information Centre, Museum Street, York.
