A REVAMPED pub has celebrated its first birthday in style with a huge bank holiday party.
A free barbecue, towering cake and live music could all be found at The Crown and Cushion in Welburn and the village was invited to enjoy the entertainment on offer.
Local band The Karl Mullen Jazz Trio provided the music while guests feasted on homemade burgers, East coast seafood, Yorkshire bangers and BBQ pulled pork.
Guests were treated to a threetiered chocolate celebration cake and a huge macaroon tower, featuring over 1,200 individual macaroons.
The day of celebration follows a multi-million pound refurbishment 12 months ago, which included additional dining areas and a new terrace being built.
Guy Richardson, the pub manager, said they were expecting about 350 people to attend throughout the day.
He said: “It’s gone very well.
The jazz band were popular and it wasn’t raining.
“One of the aims of the Provenance Inns Group is to get the community involved.
“This is a thank you to the whole village and we are giving something back because we want to be a part of the community here.”
