| POLICE are trying to identify this man, who they want to speak to about a theft in Clifton in March. The reference number is 2101. |
Police want to speak to these people in connection with four thefts from shops across York. They have issued CCTV pictures of them all in our latest Crime Gallery.
Police are asking you, our readers, to help them solve these crimes by identifying the men in these images.
Published exclusively in The Press, Crime Gallery is the first collaboration of its kind between North Yorkshire Police and the media.
Since it was launched at the beginning of November, readers have been able to help police identify at least ten people who officers wanted to question.
Today, the police want to speak to people in connection with thefts in The Groves, York city centre and Clifton.
Detective Chief Inspector Nick Warnes said: "The quality of CCTV these days means that it is fairly easy for us to identify offenders and we would encourage anybody who sees their picture in Crime Gallery to come forward and contact us because, eventually, we will trace them and catch them."
The Press told earlier this year how "Big Brother" is helping police investigate hundreds of crimes a year in York.
City of York Council said it currently had 56 CCTV cameras at locations across the city - all in full working order - with another five due to go up in the next few months.

| IF you recognise this man then police would like to hear from you. They want to speak to him about a theft in the city centre in February. The ref no is 2087. |
It said the cameras were now picking up about 25 incidents a month, with footage forwarded to police for investigation.
At the same time, North Yorkshire Police made about 350 requests to view footage during the last year, of which approximately 200 resulted in evidence being taken away.
Det Chief Insp Warnes said: "CCTV is an extremely useful tool in the fight against crime. It provides a valuable source of evidence which is key in helping to secure convictions."
Anyone who recognises the men pictured here is asked to phone York Police on 0845 60 60 247 and quote the relevant picture's reference number.
