A DELIVERY of beer brewed in North Yorkshire has reached its destination in the Falkland Islands.

A consignment of more than 100 cases of assorted Wold Top Brewery beers took six weeks to make the 8,000-mile voyage from the Hunmanby brewery to Port Stanley in the Falklands.

The order was being distributed through the Yorkshire-based food service specialist Turner Price.

It has been awaited with anticipation by the island’s growing and diverse community that includes people from more than 60 different nations.

Kate Balchin, the brewery’s export manager, was pleased at the successful delivery.

She said: “Although our export business is growing very well, it’s always good to open up a new market.

“We hope that the beer proves worth the wait for the Falklanders.”
