To coincide with our 250th Pints of View article, we take a pictorial look at the rise and rise of York's beer credentials in the past five years.
Many people, places and pints have helped revolutionise the beer scene in York in recent years.
New bars and pubs have opened. Like The Hop in Fossgate....
and York Tap at the station...
and The House of The Trembling Madness in Stonegate...
and Sotano in Back Swinegate...
and The Duke of York in King's Square.
Even Shambles now has a pub of sorts again, its first in 80 years:
At the same time, other pubs have been made bigger. Step forward The Maltings...
And many more have been refurbished and improved - such as The Cross Keys in Goodramgate...
and The Deramore Arms in Heslington...
and The Slip Inn in Clementhorpe...
Pubs that looked doomed have been saved and turned around - notably The Waggon and Horses in Lawrence Street...
its near neighbour The Rose and Crown...
and The Volunteer Arms in Holgate.
And at the same time, pubs that were already excellent have gone from strength to strength. Take Pivni for instance...
or The Rook and Gaskill in Lawrence Street
Beer is now more widely available at less traditional venues - such as at The Attic cafe...
and The Whippet Inn
And let's not forget the rising choice of beers once we get to the bar. Drinkers have more choice than ever, largely thanks to fantastic new local breweries such as....
...not forgetting the continuing excellent work at York Brewery and Rudgate:
And if you want something that little bit different.... you can now enjoy a beer that celebrates York's famous chocolate history...
or one flavoured with saffron...
or simply an old classic style, but now with 100% Yorkshire ingredients:
Here's to the next five years. Cheers!
