York's beer scene is booming, with new pubs, new breweries and hundreds of new beers. But it hasn't all been good news. Like all cities and towns, York has also seen many closures over the years.

Here, in no particular order, are 20 of the most recent losses. Share your memories below and tell us which you miss most.

1 - The Magpie, Penley's Grove Street - This pub was built in 1962, replacing a previous one of the same name. But it closed in 2004, despite a campaign by locals to save it.

2 - The Locomotive, Watson Street - This pub dated back to the mid-1800s and was popular for many years with railway workers. It closed in 2010 and has been replaced with housing.

3 - The Junction, Leeman Road - Opened in 1994, replacing the Pheonix Working Men's Club, but closed last year due to falling trade.

4 - The Cygnet, Price Street - This Victorian pub changed hands in 2009 but became unviable. It was demolished and houses have been built on the site.

5 - The Reindeer, Penley's Grove Street - Like the Magpie, this was built in 1962 to replace a predecessor of the same name on the same site. It closed in 2009 and became a Londis store.

6 - The Fossway, Huntington Road - The Bridge Hotel opened in 1939 and was renamed The Fossway in 1993, but closed in 2009. It is now a church.

7 - John Bull, Layerthorpe - There was a pub here as far back as 1824, though the it was rebuilt in 1937. Despite a huge "Save The John Bull" campaign, the pub closed in 1994, when the owner repossessed it and demolished it, to make way for a car show room.

8 - Turf Tavern, Thanet Road - Opened in 1955 but closed in 2010 despite a local campaign, and was demolished to make way for housing.

9 - Fox and Hounds, Copmanthorpe - The pub dated back to the 1860s and underwent an extensive redesign in 1978, but it closed in 2011.

10 - The Frog Hall, Layerthorpe - Built in 1927, on the site of a predecessor of the same name. It closed in 2002.

11 - Yorkshire Hussar, North Street - This is one of the most recent closures. After a tough few years, the pub closed in 2013 and became a restaurant called The Whippet Inn, although still with a public bar.

12 - The Bay Horse, Gillygate - This pub closed in 2003 and became Cert 18, and has operated as several businessse since, including Stereo, The Speakeasy, and The Pink Pony.

13 - Yearsley Grove, Huntington Road - This large private house became a hotel in 1937, then a pub after WWII. It was demolished last year.

14 - The Gimcrack, Fulford Road - This too was once a private house, but opened as a pub in 1936. It closed in 2002 despite local opposition. The building was saved from demolition and is now flats.

15 - The Bonding Warehouse bar and restaurant, Terry Avenue - This was badly hit by the floods of 2000 and never re-opened. After more than a decade of uncertainty, developers are now turning it into flats.

16 - The White Rose, Cornlands Road - Opened in 1957, to cater for the booming Acomb community, but closed in 2009 and was demolished in 2010.

17 - Alice Hawthorn, Wheldrake - After more than 140 years, this pub served its final pints in 1999. It is now a house.

18 - Tang Hall Hotel, Fourth Avenue - Opened in 1979, replacing a previous large pub on the same site. It closed in 2005.

19 - Harry's Bar, Micklegate - Opened in 1984, but became The Bedroom in 2002 and then The Room (pictured). It subsequently became a lap-dancing club called Bohemia, which has also since closed.

20 - Edward VII, Nunnery Lane - Formerly Wright's House, the pub was renamed as the Edward VII shortly after the King's coronation in 1902. It has now closed and is to become housing.
