A YORK-based author will be signing copies of his new novel in the city this week.

Tom Harper will appear at the National Trust shop in Goodramgate on Saturday between 11am and 3pm to sign copies of his latest book Zodiac Station.

Francesca Langford, manager of the shop, said: "We are really pleased to tie in with a city wide event and host a local author. We have always stocked local food, drinks and gifts from the region, it's great to add these books to our range.

Tom researched Orpheus Descent, his previous novel, at the University of York's library, and still lives and writes in the city.

York Explore library is giving away 5,000 copies of Tom's Orpheus Descent - a thriller about a man's search for his wife who may have found the location of Hell - as part of The Big City Read, and asking readers to pass their copy on to others to encourage the whole city to talk about the novel.
