What? The Christmas Adventure.

Where? Stockeld Park, near Wetherby.

Why? Festive fun for all the family is on tap here, with an outdoor ice rink, Nordic ski-trail, a Snowflake Maze and an Enchanted Forest full of fairytale creatures. There is a Santa’s grotto, Woodland café and festive shop selling lots of decorations and packed with gift ideas. They sell Christmas trees too.

When? Open until Sunday, January 8 except Christmas Day and Boxing Day. The shop and café are open from 10am to 8pm and the activities from 11.30am to 8.30pm with early closing at 7pm on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. Late opening to 1am on January 1. The park is more magical in twilight and after dark, when the figures in the enchanted forest are illuminated – but the queues are busier then.

How much? Entry to the park is free (including shop and café), but you pay to take part in the activities such as the maze, the enchanted forest, Nordic skiing and ice-skating. Prices depend on the date of your visit, but range from £7/£8 adult or £7/6 child for one activity up to £17/£18 adult £15/£13 child for all activities, including goes on the Helter Skelter and the Big Wheel Ride. A visit to Santa’s Grotto is an additional £7.50 or £8.50.
