Hyde, Harrogate Theatre, May 4 and 5

THUNDER Road, the new associate company at Harrogate Theatre, returns there this week with last year’s sell-out show, Hyde.

Set in the chilling underworld of Victorian Edinburgh, Polis Loizou’s stage adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s dark tale will star artistic director Alex Moran as Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, two men united by their past but separated by change.

In a world of shadows and invisible women, Dr Henry Jekyll has returned to his “Auld Reekie” hometown as a respectable physician after a lengthy absence. At first, his good friend and lawyer Mr Utterson is elated by the news, but he cannot help suspecting that something is amiss in the Jekyll house.

As the doctor’s health deteriorates, so does his former recklessness, now replaced by religious zeal. What secret knowledge is his butler hiding? And just who is this evasive and unpleasant new lab assistant, Mr Hyde?

Moran is joined by Christopher Ward in performances at 7.45pm tonight and 2.45pm and 7.45pm tomorrow. Box office: 01423 502116 or harrogatetheatre.co.uk
