DRIP Drop Theatre will make its debut with ECR Roberts’s musical comedy Going Grey at 41 Monkgate from May 2 to 5.

The story revolves around Helen, recently turned 40 and abruptly widowed, who wants nothing more than to run her Little Blue Café in Shambles and adjust to a quiet life on her own.

Into her life walks Phillip, a witty, intelligent and attractive writer from Robin Hood’s Bay, but can she possibly ever fall in love again?

The two lead roles go to Jo Wragg and Andy Field, by profession a policewoman and GP respectively.

“It’s made me wish I did run a café with some mad sisters. Instead I’m a police detective,” says Jo.

“I play in a band as well called Dynamics, which we started in January. I play flute and tenor sax and you name it, we’ll play it, swing, classical, whatever!”

Andy, 45, from Clifton, is taking to the stage after his GP work no longer required him to work evenings or weekends. “This year too my very best friend died of cancer and it made me think I really should get out and do things – and I haven’t been on theatre stage since I was a student at St Mary’s Medical School.”

Drip Drop Theatre’s Going Grey runs at 41 Monkgate, York, from May 2 to 5 at 7.30pm nightly. Box office: 01904 623568 or yorktheatreroyal.co.uk
