YORK Dance Works will play host to three workshops to tie in with the touring productions of Stomp and BalletBoyz: The Talent show at the Grand Opera House, York.
Each session will be held at 11 Redeness Street, Layerthorpe, York, kicking off with Stomp on Sunday, February 26.
From 10.30am to noon, Stomp cast members will hold a workshop for all ages, with no previous experience of music or dance necessary. This £2.50 workshop will include warm-ups, discovering sounds, repetition and call and response.
From 1pm to 3pm, Stomp will run a workshop for Lollipop, the York charity that offers opportunities for children and young people with any degree of hearing loss and their families to meet and build friendships with others. This will not be open to the general public.
BalletBoyz will hold a workshop for dancers aged 12 to 16 with some experience on March 10 from 11am to 1pm, in advance of the company’s new show, The Talent, that evening at the Grand Opera House at 7.30pm.
All eight dancers in the show have been trained in workshop delivery and team-teaching sessions. Two of them will lead the £10 session.
“It’s an excellent opportunity for young dancers in the area to learn more about the professional life of dancers,” says press officer Celestine Dubruel.
Stomp will run at the Grand Opera House from March 19 to 24; BalletBoyz has only the one show on March 10. For tickets, phone 0844 871 3024 or book online at atgtickets.com/york
