CLASSICAL dance is experiencing a dramatic resurgence, thanks in part to such films as The Black Swan, a story built around Swan Lake.
From Russia with a dynamic orchestra come the refined young dancers of the Moscow City Ballet, who will perform the story of Prince Siegfried’s love for Odette to Tchaikovsky’s celebrated score.
Tricked by the evil sorcerer Von Rothbart and his daughter Odile, Odette would rather die together with the prince than live apart.
Lavish sets and beautiful costumes will complement the innovative choreography of one-time Bolshoi Ballet soloist Victor Smirnov-Golovanov, who is assisted by his wife Ludmila Nerubashenko, the chief ballet mistress.
“We’re pleased to be touring the UK again following a phenomenal season last year,” says Victor. “The UK audiences especially seem to appreciate our gifted dancers and enjoy the spectacle of our traditional ballets. We hope they enjoy this repertoire and embrace this new dance revolution.”
