Bev Jones presents Showtime Spectacular 4, Grand Opera House, York, March 18 20

AFTER three well-supported Showtime Spectaculars at Joseph Rowntree Theatre, York musical producer Bev Jones is moving his West End song-and-dance extravaganza to the Grand Opera House.

“The Opera House allows for bigger dance routines, a factor which our choreographer, Christine Aspinall from Bradford, is using to best effect in our Mamma Mia and We Will Rock You sections and our new Hairspray section,” says Bev.

Joseph Knowles, York’s very own Beast from last month’s Disney’s Beauty And The Beast at the Theatre Royal, will be adorning the stage in two roles: first as Edna in Hairspray and then in a sequinned performance of I Am What I Am from La Cage Aux Folles.

Further highlights will be the Swingtime jazz routine; the humour of Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, featuring Herod in Elvis mode; a rendition of Robert Palmer’s Addicted To Love, complete with the obligatory slinky all-girl dance routine; and Showtime Spectacular’s very own version of Take That’s Shine.

Guest performers will include Terry Ford, from West Yorkshire, and York soprano Rebecca Newman. Evening performances will start at 7.30pm; next Saturday’s matinee at 2.30pm.

Bev Jones presents Showtime Spectacular 4, Grand Opera House, York, Thursday to Saturday.

Tickets: £11 to £16 on 0844 847 2322 or 07764770339 or via email to lesleyannjones@hotmail.co.uk
