THE York LGBT Forum will present a unique theatrical experience penned by writer and director Steven Clark in July.

Bring On Tomorrow will take its York Barbican audience on an emotional journey through a history of LGBT landmark points and raise awareness on topics such as homophobia, biphobia, transphobia and hate crime.

The characters will be played by a cast of 22 singers, backed by a 32-piece orchestra under the helm of York musical director Ben Papworth, who is now working in London's West End.

Bring On Tomorrow guides the July 8 audience through the Second World War; the Stonewall Riots; the birth of Pride; Lesbian & Gays Support the Miners; HIV in the 1980s; the issues faced in Ageing without Children and modern-day matters such as equality, same sex marriage and Chechnya.

This theatrical event is set to a backdrop of songs from West End and Broadway musicals such as Love Never Dies, The King And I, Soho Cinders, Blood Brothers, Imagine This, Jeckyl & Hyde, Les Miserables, Sister Act, Mrs Henderson Presents and Anastasia.

The show will be narrated by Matt Rood, Mr Gay Europe 2017, Steven Whyte. Mr Gay Scotland 2017. and Jonathan Blake, HIV activist and founder member of Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners, with other special guests to be announced.

"This is an event for everyone to enjoy music from the musicals but learn some LGBT history at the same time, as we raise the bar to encourage equality and diversity in York," says Steven Clark. "Remember, don't hide your heart, the York LGBT Forum is here to support."
