HAVE you always wanted to write? Is there a story inside you itching to find its way out? Are you frustrated because you feel you lack the time to put words on a page?

If so, Hannah Davies, award-winning York writer, theatre-maker, performer and multi slam-winning spoken-word poet, invites you to "explore your creative writing practice in the beautiful setting of the Stables Yoga Centre" in Nunmill Street, York.

"I'll be leading a month-long course for writers of all levels and experience," she says. "The course takes place over four weekly sessions and covers aspects of writing for short story, memoir, poetry and dialogue. Classes include writing prompts, discussion, guided exercises and lots of sharing and feedback on each other’s work."

Hannah has a PhD in Creative Practice and is an experienced workshop leader and writing tutor, as well as an associate artist at the Say Owt spoken-word nights in York. She has taught in theatres, community groups, poetry organisations and at drama schools and universities, and in 2012 she won the Vice Chancellor’s Teaching Award after being nominated by her MA theatre students.

Her sessions will run from 7pm to 9.30pm on May 25, June 1, June 8 and June 16 and the course costs £120 per person. Places are limited, pre-booking is essential and reservations can be made with a non-refundable £50 deposit.

"I like to foster a friendly and inclusive writing environment and believe that writing is a fun, social activity, and that everyone can find their own unique voice on the page," says Hannah who can be contacted for bookings and further details via hannahcdavies@gmail.com.
