YORK Barbican is planning ahead for next year already with its latest addition of three events on the 2018 calendar.

Regular visitors Anton du Beke and Erin Boag will celebrate a decade of dance in their new jive extravaganza Broadway To Hollywood on March 17 at 3pm.

Ballroom dancing couple Anton & Erin will be joined by conductor Richard Balcombe, Strictly Come Dancing star vocalist Lance Ellington, six world-class ensemble dancers and the Manchester Concert Orchestra as they recall the golden age of Hollywood.

Expect "dazzling new choreography, sparkling costumes and a sensational show band performing timeless music" in the form of Somewhere In Time, Cry Me A River, Mr Bojangles, Downtown, This Nearly Was Mine, New York, New York, Couple Of Swells and Libertango.

Saint Petersburg Classical Ballet will perform Pyotr Tchaikovsky's tragic tale of love and betrayal, Swan Lake, in their Barbican debut on February 2 and 3 at 7.30pm.

Under the direction of Marina Medvetskaya, the company has won plaudits across Russia, Scandinavia, the United States and now Britain with the winning combination of classical training and technique with the best-loved Russian ballets, an air of magic and a full orchestra.

Swan Lake presents the epic story of Prince Siegfried and his true love Odette who, tricked by the evil sorcerer Von Rothbart and his daughter Odile, would rather die together than live apart.

BANFF Film Festival invites you to "ignite your passion for adventure, action and travel" at York Barbican on March 14 at 7.30pm when you can experience an evening of extraordinary short films from the world's most prestigious mountain film festival.

This is your chance to "follow the expeditions of some of today's most incredible adventurers, see amazing footage of adrenaline-packed action sports and be inspired by thought-provoking pieces shot from the far-flung corners of the globe" in an exhilarating collection of the latest films from today's most talented adventure film makers.
