THREE women, one man. A man who was known by some as the "Hermit of Hull" and by others as the "Don Juan of Hull".

The poet Philip Larkin had an intriguing private life, juggling the love of three very different women over a period of 30 years, as recounted in Ben Brown's Larkin With Women, winner of the TMA Best New Play Award in 2000.

Revealing the influence these women had on Larkin's work and how they were influenced by him, this touching and humorous play will be staged by Esk Valley Theatre, the resident company at the Robinson Institute, Glaisdale, near Whitby, from August 10 to September 2.

Director Mark Stratton will begin rehearsals with cast members Jonathan Pembroke, Isla Carter, Hayley Doherty and Georgina Sutton on July 24. Joining Stratton in the production team will be producer Sheila Carter, designer and lighting designer Graham Kirk, costume designer Christine Wall and company stage manager Sue Volans.
