THE cast of Aladdin, the Grand Opera House pantomime for this winter, will turn on the Coppergate Christmas lights in York on Friday, November 11.
Weather permitting, a parade will set off from Piccadilly at 5.50pm, arriving at Coppergate at 6pm and the event will finish at 6.30pm. The panto dame will perform a song and dance number, followed by a few jokes from Stuart Wade, who will be playing Wishee Washee as well as directing the show for Three Bears Productions.
The cast will be in full costume and will be accompanied by two 12ft dragons, an elephant (not real, obviously) and two Chinese policemen in an electric car, while the pantomime dancers will give a performance too.
The public will have the chance to win prizes and meet the cast. BBC Radio York afternoon show presenters Adam Tomlinson and Anna Wallace will be hosting the event and chatting to the cast about Three Bears' first pantomime in York.
Aladdin, with its 3D special effects, magical Genie, dazzling sets, glamorous costumes, music and comedy, will run from December 9 to January 1 2017. Tickets are on sale on 9844 871 3024 or at atgtickets.com/york
