Just A Quickie with... actress Chelsee Healey, guest star of Keep Dancing, the new Latin and ballroom dance show at the Grand Opera House, York

CHELSEE Healey is filming her first episodes for a new soap role in Channel 4's Hollyoaks, but the Salford actress will be nipping out of the studios for one week only for Keep Dancing and that week will be in York.

Chelsee played Janeece Bryant in the BBC school drama series Waterloo Road from 2006 to 2012 and Honey Wright in the BBC1's Casualty from 2014 until 2015, but next week she will be calling on her skills from her dancing days with Pasha Kovalev in 2011 on Strictly Come Dancing.

Charles Hutchinson learns how Chelsee is preparing to return to the dancefloor for the first time since the Strictly tour in 2012, joining Robin Windsor, Strictly professional dancers and ballroom and Latin world champions at the Grand Opera House.

Where are you at the moment, Chelsee?

"I'm filming for Hollyoaks. I started a month ago and the shows will start airing in November as we're filming eight weeks in advance. I can't say too much about it, but she's a McQueen [Goldie McQueen], she's very gobby and she's a very fun character. I have a year's contract and hopefully they'll renew it."

What will be your preparations for Keep Dancing?

"I'm hoping that the dancing comes back to me quite quick! I start rehearsals at the weekend and I'm a quick learner. I don't know too much about the show but I'm told I'm going to be doing a lot of Latin and salsa.

"Being fit will help with not getting tired doing the show, as I regularly go to the gym, which I fit around filming."

When did you last dance on stage?

"When I was in Strictly in 2011 and the tour straight after that when you're still in the swing of it. I think I have only a couple of days of rehearsals for York but I'll be fine. The tension of doing it is all part of it, the adrenaline before going on stage, and I know I'm going to get that adrenaline again in York."

What are your memories of Strictly Come Dancing?

"Still to this day, I say it was the most magical time of my life, and every time it comes on TV at this time of year I can't watch it because I wish it was me on there, and that's why I can't wait to be in York, dancing and wearing beautiful clothes again. Hopefully I can do more shows next year when Keep Dancing tours again."
