TOMORROW is the last chance to see York company Common Ground Theatre in Kitty Bridges' Pocket Book Of Tunes.
The show is written and performed by storyteller Hannah Davies, with music from Over the Yardarm musicians Paul Baldwin, on mandolin, banjo, bouzouki and cittern, and Moira Clarke, on recorder, melodeon and concertina.
Inspired by the poem and folk music found in a small pocket book from 1745, Common Ground's show is a lively, lyrical and haunting piece of storytelling, poetry and song with a playful and irreverent nod to the era that bore it.
Kitty’s adventure begins in her beloved Yorkshire, and as she travels further afield she encounters scoundrels, rogues and vagabonds in ballrooms, gin-sodden back streets and on the open road in a play about music, freedom, greed and ownership. Handpicked melodies for dancing and cavorting add to the entertainment.
Tickets for the 7.30pm performance in the Old Meeting House can be booked on 01439 771700 or at helmsleyarts.co.uk
