YOU cannot follow the Yellow Brick Road after all at York Barbican on Saturday afternoon, now that the 2pm performance of The Wizard Of Oz Easter Panto 2016 has been cancelled.

An official statement on the Barbican website states: "After the wonderful news and recent announcement from Dani Harmer that she is pregnant with her first child, Enchanted Entertainment have decided to cut short their UK tour of The Wizard Of Oz starring Dani Harmer as Dorothy. The tour now finishes on 19th April 2016."

The statement continues: "This was a difficult decision for all parties. Enchanted Entertainment apologise for any disappointment this may cause, but hope to reschedule the later part of The Wizard Of Oz tour for Easter 2017 with an all-new cast."

This completes a hat-trick of fallen shows in the Barbican's May calendar after a virus forced tenor Russell Watson to postpone last Saturday's Songs From The Heart concert and Paul Gascoigne cried off from last Sunday's evening of football chat. No new date has been arranged for Watson but Gascoigne Live, The Man, The Legend, In His Own Words provisionally has been re-scheduled for September 22.
