YORK company Well-fangled Theatre are seeking energetic, versatile and talented actors to form an ensemble for Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night’s Dream this summer.

Directed by company founder Mark France and designed by Simon Jarvis, it will run at the Friargate Theatre in York from July 21 to 23. "Physical skills, great comic timing and commitment are essential to join a cast of eight actors where all will be playing multiple roles, some of which may be cast non-traditionally," says Mark. "Please note, it will be a new production, completely different in tone and concept from my York Shakespeare Project staging in 2006."

Rehearsals will be held in York two to three times a week from late-May, increasing in frequency from mid-June onwards, including Sundays and some weekday evenings. "Because of the ensemble nature of the production, regular attendance is essential to taking part," says Mark.

In addition, Well-fangled Theatre are looking for an assistant director to work alongside Mark. "Movement skills, commitment and excellent availability are essential for this role," he advises.

If you are interested, please contact Mark France at mark@wellfangled.co.uk by Tuesday, May 9. Initial auditions will be held in York on the evening of May 12. All roles are unpaid.

Well-fangled Theatre made their debut last December with France's production of Thomas Middleton's murderous, anarchic Jacobean drama The Revenger's Tragedy at the Black Box Studio, Department of Theatre, Film and Television, University of York.
