THE autumn season marks the launch of the Matinee Club at the Grand Opera House, York.

"The club is for anyone aged 60 plus who wishes to attend the theatre and meet others who are fans of live theatre too, so if you’re new in town, have a free Wednesday or Thursday afternoon, want to meet new people or just love coming to the theatre, then come along," says organiser Caroline Usher Cox.

The next opportunity will be next Wednesday when Nigel Havers, Martin Jarvis and Sian Phillips star in Lucy Bailey's West End production of Oscar Wilde's The Importance Of Being Earnest during its run from Tuesday to Saturday.

An area of the Foyer Bar is to be reserved and complimentary tea and refreshments will be served before the 2.30pm matinee. "Spaces are very limited, so please book early to ensure a place," urges Caroline. "You can book at the Clifford Street box office in person or by emailing yorkboxoffice@theambassadors.com."
