AFTER playing Jesus in the West End, on Broadway and on film, Glenn Carter will reprise the role on tour in Jesus Christ Superstar, visiting the Grand Opera House, York, from October 12 to 17.

Carter's extensive musical theatre credits include leading roles in Whistle Down The Wind, Les Misérables, Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Godspell and Merrily We Roll Along.

He will be joined in Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s ground-breaking rock opera by Australian musical theatre star Tim Rogers as Judas Iscariot, and Rachel Adejedi, from the 2009 series of The X Factor, as Mary Magdalene.

Rogers made his British stage debut 15 years ago and has since appeared as The Man in Whistle Down The Wind in the West End and on tour and in the title role in Jekyll & Hyde at the Union Theatre, London.

Further roles have come his way in West Side Story, Jersey Boys, The Full Monty and Aspects Of Love and, most recently, he starred in Carousel at the Arcola Theatre, London. Adedeji joins the Jesus Christ Superstar tour direct from performing in the British and European tour of Thriller Live.

Bob Tomson and Bill Kenwright reunite to direct Jesus Christ Superstar, continuing a partnership that has seen them at the helm of such musicals as Evita and Blood Brothers.

Jesus Christ Superstar made its debut in 1971 with its story of the last seven days in the life of Jesus, as seen through the eyes of Judas Iscariot, told through such songs as I Don’t Know How To Love Him, Everything’s Alright, Gethsemane and Superstar.

The tour is booked into Leeds Grand Theatre too for a run from July 6 to 11. York tickets are on sale on 0844 871 3024 or at atgtickets.com/york; Leeds, 08448 482700 or leedsgrandtheatre.com JODIE Prenger will star in another Andrew Lloyd Webber musical at the Grand Opera House next year when she returns to the York theatre on Friday, April 22.

Jodie, winner of BBC1 talent contest I'd Do Anything in May 2008, will appear in Lloyd Webber and Don Black's one-woman show Tell Me On A Sunday.

Originally conceived for television, this one-act song cycle charts the romantic misadventures of Emma, a young English girl from Muswell Hill, who journeys to New York in the heady days of the 1980s. Brimming with optimism, she seeks success and love, but as she weaves her way through the maze of the city and her own anxieties and heartaches, she wonders whether she has been looking for love in all the wrong places.

Best known for the Top Three hit Take That Look Off Your Face and the title track, Tell Me On A Sunday has been performed by such musical theatre stars as Marti Webb and Sarah Brightman. The 2016 production, directed by Paul Foster, will include a post-show chat with Jodie about life, love and playing the role of Emma.

In February this year, Jodie took the title role in Calamity Jane on tour at the Grand Opera House.
