A NIGHT Of Dirty Dancing’s re-booted stage production revels in all the hits from the 1987 Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey movie, on tour at York Barbican on Saturday night.

Recast, rescripted and billed as “the sexiest song and dance sensation of 2015”, this tribute show invites audiences to take a trip back to the summer of 1963 to relive “the ultimate coming of age romance”.

“Celebrated film Dirty Dancing boasted the greatest movie soundtrack of all time,” says the show’s producer Michael Taylor. “It was the first movie to sell one million videos; it produced a number one single and achieved album sales of 42 million worldwide. All these hits are superbly performed in this fast-moving, slickly choreographed theatrical treat.”

Among the songs to be aired in York this weekend will be She’s Like The Wind, Big Girls Don’t Cry, Hey Baby, Wipeout, Do You Love Me, Be My Baby, Hungry Eyes and the Oscar-winning (I’ve Had) The Time of My Life.

“It’s all down to Kellerman’s end-of-season show,” says Michael. “Revel in the moments you loved, the memories you made and the music that’s resonated throughout the years.”

Please note: A Night Of Dirty Dancing is not affiliated with Dirty Dancing: The Classic Story On Stage, at present on tour in Britain and worldwide.

“Our show is an all-new production featuring an all-star cast; the next exciting chapter in the amazing musical legacy that is Dirty Dancing,” says Michael.

Tickets for Saturday’s 7.30pm performance are on sale on 0844 854 2757 and at yorkbarbican.co.uk
