YORK company Common Ground Theatre are adding an extra date to their tour of Kitty Bridges' Pocket Book Of Tunes on home turf.

A Pay What You Decide performance will be held as a fundraiser for the new community arts pop-up space, The Fleeting Arms on Gillygate, on Saturday at 7.30pm.

Writer and performer Hannah Davies says: "The Fleeting Arms provides such a unique opportunity for the cultural life of the city. It's a place where artists can take risks, make contacts and find a home for their work, and we at Common Ground are delighted to be involved in helping to make this a truly open and collaborative space for York's artistic community."

Kitty Bridges is a lively, upbeat piece of theatrical storytelling by Hannah, who plays a whirlwind of 15 characters accompanied by Paul Baldwin and Moira Clarke's bustling folk music, picked from a collection of tunes from 1745.

"The play is suitable for ages eight to eighty and the evening ends with a ceilidh-style knees-up," says Hannah. "We've toured the piece all over Yorkshire and the North East and have had warm and enthusiastic feedback from all of our audiences, who have all loved the irreverent humour, and the dancing at the end has been described as the 'cherry on the cake'!"
