LAVISH sets and costumes brought the story of Swan Lake alive as Moscow City Ballet took to the stage in York.
In their first performances in the city since 2012, the Russian dancers, accompanied by the National Ballet Orchestra, performed Tchaikovsky’s ballet at York Barbican.
The ballet, created from Russian folk tales, tells the story of a princess turned into a swan by a sorcerer’s curse.
The dancers gave five performances at York Barbican, with one on Friday and two on both Saturday and Sunday.
The Moscow City Ballet was founded in 1988 by Russian choreographer Victor Smirnov-Golovanov and has since had great success in the UK with more than 800 performances since 1991.
