RAY Quinn, singer, songwriter, The X Factor runner-up and Dancing On Ice winner, is joining the UK touring cast for Judy – The Songbook Of Judy Garland.

He will be appearing alongside Judy’s daughter, Lorna Luft, and West End musical theatre stars on the road from May 8 in Edinburgh in the York-bound British premiere of the only Garland show authorised by the Judy Garland Estate.

Louise Dearman, from Wicked, and Rachel Stanley, from the Dominion Theatre’s White Christmas, will be among the cast, along with Judy’s dancers, The Boyfriends, named after Garland’s original dancers of the same name.

The show’s creative director is British choreographer Arlene Phillips, the director is Christopher Manoe, and along with songs from Garland’s films such as A Star Is Born, Meet Me In St Louis, Easter Parade and The Wizard Of Oz will be never-seen-before film clips and interviews.

I Got Rhythm, The Trolley Song, The Man That Got Away, Get Happy, Zing! Went The Strings Of My Heart and Over The Rainbow will all feature in the show’s May 14 to 16 run at the Grand Opera House, York.

Ray Quinn’s first acting role was in Channel 4’s Liverpool soap, Brookside. He came second to Leona Lewis in The X Factor in 2006; went to number one with his platinum-selling debut album, Doing It My Way; and starred in the West End musicals Grease, Dirty Dancing, The Rise And Fall Of Little Voice and Legally Blonde.

He won ITV’s Dancing On Ice in 2009 and the Dancing On Ice All Stars series in 2014 and is now recording an album inspired by Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and the Rat Pack.
