AUDITIONS for the 2015 Stage Experience summer school production of West Side Story will be held at the Grand Opera House, York, on Sunday, April 19, at 9am.

Stage Experience is an intensive two-week project for ten to 21 year olds, directed by professional director and choreographer Louise Denison, who will be joined by musical director Adam Laird. The project will run from Sunday, July 19, culminating in four performances from July 30 to August 1.

As well as budding actors, Stage Experience welcomes young and aspiring theatre technicians, who will work with the professional team on sound, lighting, set, props and costumes.

Looking forward to holding the auditions for the Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim musical, Stage Experience producer Clare O’Connor says: “This year, for Stage Experience, we’ve gone back to the operatic musical which everyone loves. Inspired by Shakespeare’s classic tale of Romeo And Juliet, West Side Story is a modern-day musical opera with an abundance of well-known songs such as America, Tonight, I Feel Pretty and Maria. Guaranteed to show the wealth of talent we have, it will also show the skills of our production team to the max, and leave you wanting more.”
