YORK DramaSoc are to stage the first ever student production of of Mark Cantan’s Jezebel from tomorrow until Sunday at the University of York’s Drama Barn.
“Jezebel is a comedy about an unlikely trio whose ‘no strings attached’ night of passion ends up being a little more than they bargained for,” says producer Emily Sillett.
Alan (played by Sam Zak) and Robin (Britt Borkan) are the perfect match, but there is an ever-growing problem: their sex life. Then there is Jezebel (Anna Mawn), who is repeatedly unlucky in love. A threesome seems to be a simple solution, but is three really the magic number?
“Most recently performed by Rough Magic at the Soho Theatre, in London, the show has been a great hit with audiences and was labelled ‘a non-stop effervescent farce’ and ‘as captivating as it is hilarious’,” says Emily.
Jezebel is being directed by Polly Jordan, a third-year student on the writing, directing and performance degree course. “The play is a fast-paced, contemporary farce filled with hilarious twists and turns that spirals into unexpected chaos,” she says.
Tickets for the 7.30pm performances can be booked online at yusu.org/tickets
